The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working at the company, since I arrived everyone has been extremely helpful and took time explaining anything I asked about. Additionally they have always made sure that I have had work to complete and that I am included within the team, I would definitely recommend this internship to my friends.
My colleagues always ensured that I was made to feel like part of the team, I was invited to join in on all the discussions that they had and they valued my opinions. My colleagues always ensured that I knew what I was doing and didn't feel left out of undervalued.
My manager has been very supportive throughout the entire 10weeks, this has included checking in with me daily to ensure everything is going okay and also giving me the chance to participate in phone conferences with people globally. The HR staff have also been extremely supportive and open to suggestions.
I was never left with nothing to do in my role. The amount of work did vary on a weekly basis as some weeks there would be new software being released and the workload would increase for a few days.
I was given a surprising amount of responsibility, my team gave me full ownership of part of the project which meant that I was in charge of rectifying any issues and ensuring that the work was completely correctly. The work I was assigned was also sent out to the teams around the world so there was a significant amount of responsibility to ensure that the work was correct.
The skills I have gained will definitely help when I return for my last year of university. The internship has taught me a lot about how to function in a team, how to write code that can be used in industry and most importantly time management.
The Company
The office atmosphere was generally extremely relaxed, the staff were given a high level of freedom. There was free coffee and lots of break rooms which were never empty, the company didn't mind if an employee had a chat or anything as long as the work got done. All of the staff were extremely friendly.
The internship was fairly well organised. In the month before my official start date I heard very little from the company and didn't know what role I would be assigned to until the week beforehand, this seemed a little disorganised for me. However once I arrived in the company everything was extremely well organised, we would receive weekly emails from HR detailing any events, times we can go chat to them and any information we needed.
There was a lot of training and development within the 10 weeks. The internship began with a day in the London office, throughout this day we were told more about the company and any information we needed to know about working with them. Then once we got back to the Glasgow office we received a large amount of training from HR about the legalities of working with the company. Additionally we had training that was specific to our role.

There are a large amount of future employment prospects for me within the company, I am definitely looking forward to coming back and stepping up the ranks.
The Culture
There was definitely a thriving social scene amongst my colleagues and the interns. My team would go out for drinks and meals on special occasions and go for coffee almost daily. Then the interns also went out together at the weekends. Additionally there were lots of HR organised activities for the interns that allowed us to network with other employees.
The cost of living and socialising was average, I was based in Glasgow city and found a reasonably priced flat very easily. There is a large choice of places to go for socialising costing varying amount that meant that I was never short for money.
As I was based in the city the nightlife was very good, there is a whole range of pubs and clubs available for anyone of any age. Additionally around the office there was a large amount of nice pubs for people to go to after work.
As I was only here for 10weeks I didn't actively pursue any of the activities I could've become involved in outside of work. There were social club events held through the company and also outside organisations.
