The Role
I enjoyed my internship very much. People are very friendly and willing to help you learn/explore more areas within the company.
Interns are treated like normal staff at J.P. Morgan. The bank is trying to appeal to you as much as you are to them and so the atmosphere is very inclusive.
Asking questions is easy and encouraged. Everyone I spoke to has a good relationship with their manager and feel they can ask for help and guidance freely.
As I was in a business management role, work varied daily. Usually I would have an ideal amount to do but sometimes I would be waiting for my next task. However in this time you can network or do shadowing of other departments to help further your commercial awareness.
Interns are trusted with high responsibility tasks. Doing work you can see will actively benefit the firm is very rewarding.
I feel much more confident in understanding the way banks are run. This will help me in modules such as finance. I also believe I have developed skills that will assist me when applying to graduate roles including communication skills and commercial acumen.
The Company
Friendly. J.P. Morgan is very diverse so the atmosphere is good.
Everything has run smoothly. The onboarding process was very simple. There are a wide range of events set up for interns to help network and learn about the firm.
Interns have access to a wide range of training facilities. Front office interns will have a week worth of training at the beginning which is extremely beneficial. There are also courses run regularly on a wide variety of topic which are encouraged and easy to sign up to.

If given the opportunity I would love to come back. Most interns are hopeful to return to a graduate role. The grad scheme operates on a rotational basis which seems good for learning and developing skills.
The Culture
Yes, the London office is based in a lively area. There would often be social events organised by the firm and it is very easy to set up social events of your own with other interns.
I lived at home so cannot comment on the cost of living. However the gym is reasonably low priced so this helps. Drinks/food is of course expensive in Canary Wharf however there are a few lower cost options.
Lots of bars that are lively for after work drinks. Only a few tube stops away from other good areas too.
There are many opportunities outside of work. There are intern sports teams and many other events including dragon boat racing that run occasionally.
