The Role
I felt it was a very valuable experience (and I think it will be to me in the future) for myself in terms of what I learnt and for me to have it on my CV. It was good fun getting to know other interns and having a group that we could always speak to and had event together. This meant we were able to really get to know each other rather than getting to know many different people briefly (although we were given the exposure to network extensively).
I was given work to do and felt I contributed to the teams and I got the feeling they appreciated this. They made me feel welcome and ensured I was looked after most if the time. I was not given great responsibilities (which I do not expect at this stage of my career in an industry like this with so many regulation, but where I could help out on important things I was given the opportunity to and then my work was checked over which made me feel valued.
the managers and senior team were not only very approachable but also very supportive. I was given the opportunity to escalate any issue bothering me to my manager and I was told if there were issues I felt I could not speak to him about that there were other people there that I could speak to. The senior people were easily contactable and I did not feel intimidated to speak to them if I had anything to speak about.
I had enough to do.
I was satisfied with the level of responsibility I was given and did not feel too much pressure. at the same time I did not feel like I was useless within my team or unneeded. They made me feel valued and gave me responsibilities during the course of the internship. in some aspects the level of responsibility that I had increased as the weeks went on.
If I continue in this career path the skills that I learnt in the 10 weeks, in my opinion, are invaluable. I have learnt ample of skills relating to the role I am doing and in general such as with software.
The Company
The atmosphere was good. There are improvements that I would suggest to making the atmosphere better- some of which interns definitely have the potential and opportunity to change but overall it was fine. For example, I found people worked very hard with little time for socialising. Therefore, it is possible for interns to be able to organise social events for their team and extended team or even team lunches.
The organisation of the internship was very good. HR were there to help and events were organised regularly. there were a variety of events for example some that were more formal and corporate and others which were more informal. There were also opportunities to network with people very high up which was good for interns to be able to meet and interact with colleagues in a vertical structure rather than a horizontal structure.
There was a lot of investment in bettering and training interns. There are ample of online training courses which can be done 'on the job' by the interns which is good because they can be done around the other tasks that the interns have. There are also other training courses for software that interns need to use. From my experience so far there is lots of training available and face to face training from people you work with is also very available and people are not reluctant to help if not busy.

This is not only an excellent name to have on one's CV but also for the experience interns or employees get. From what I have heard the employees tend to stay at the firm for many years to build their career because there is lots of opportunity. Many of the seniors have been here for many years and are willing to stay. The team I work for were very friendly and welcoming which is always good- if you enjoy spending time with and get along with your team and people you work with.
The Culture
Yes. I think this was partly due to the firm enabling us to spend time with each other regularly at the start of the internship which meant that we were able to get to know each other. this then meant that as the weeks went on we were comfortable enough to contact each other and organise events independently from the office events. For example drinks after work or even dinner together. There were also events that the company organised for us as a group of interns.
It was pricey but this is expected in London. Because this is a working area, things like lunches are overpriced but this is expected. These costs can be easily avoided by bringing lunch in. Drinks and dinners were a little bit expensive in some places but these were one offs. The costs were not extortionate and when there was a social event organised by work- the majority of the time they would provide food and drink for us.
this area is populated with people working office hours and so the nightlife was great. The bars and local places were busy especially on a Thursday or Friday evening and there were many places to go. Many of the places were populated with people who looked like they were working or had come from work and so the environment is very inclusive. it is nice to experience something like this which not many people, if not working in the city or an area like this, would get to experience.
Yes. The firm were very good in giving us opportunities to volunteer or participate in sports events. There was a volunteering day where the interns had to do an assigned volunteering day. This was good because it allowed interns to network amongst different programs and get to know each other to build networks. The sports events are open to all and so this is another opportunity to meet people you may not necessarily work with.
