The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at JP Morgan, I felt like I was completing meaningful projects as well as having the time to go out and learn about other lines of business. The graduate recruitment team organized a number of event which provided an opportunity to network and meet new people, The culture at Bournemouth is also very social.
The team appreciated the work that I was completing and treated me like a full time employee. They were very friendly and welcoming, as was the whole line of business that I was working in. Some of my projects meant I was involved with senior managements and firm wide initiatives.
The team were very supportive, especially in the first few weeks. By the end of the first week I had set a number of clear objectives which outlined by work and was provided with the resources and contacts I needed to be able to complete these projects. I was also given support and guidance by managers outside of my team.
I had a number of large projects, some of which were self-driven which kept me busy, but also meant I had time to attend training events and work shadow other people. Towards the end of my internship once I had delivered on some of the objectives I found that the work I was doing was more self-driven, I kept myself busy by being proactive.
The projects I was completing were value adding and important. I was outside of business as usual operations, so there was some sense of less responsibility in that respect, however as this was only a 10 week internship I do not see this as a problem.
The knowledge I gained of Treasury Service products and services will be extremely valuable in my future career within banking. I gained excellent time management skills which will prove valuable in my final year when balancing university, extra-curricular and social activities. I learnt influencing skills and communication skills, with an emphasis on these within a global organization. I also got to put project management theory into practice when managing my own projects within the internship. I also increased my proficiency using Microsoft office, in particular Microsoft Access, advanced excel and some basic VBA skills. The internship also increased my confidence in myself and my abilities.
The Company
There was a social atmosphere in the office, but also very professional and everyone demonstrated a strong work ethic, The workplace was fast-paced and often high pressure but within the area that I was working this wasn't a negative thing it made it exciting and interesting. There were activities and social events outside of work for all JP Morgan employees, as well as department specific socials.
There was an very good structure to the internship and clear expectations were set my the company. The were networking events throughout the course of the internship which gave a chance to meet lots of people within the business. Having the campus recruitment team as support for the interns was also extremely beneficial.
The company invested a good amount of time in the summer interns and it felt like they were genuinely interested interns coming back as graduates.

Very, I would like to return to the company and location on the graduate program.
The Culture
Yes there was an excellent social scene amongst interns, as there was so many of us there was always something going on. It's great to be located by the beach over the summer.
Bournemouth isn't particularly cheap, however it is quite a bit cheaper than London and the compensation provided by the company was plenty to cover this.
Really good nightlife in Bournemouth, especially as it was over the summer.
Yes the company had activities clubs and often organized social activities.
