The Role
Friendly atmosphere and great people made it an enjoyable place to work.
My department loved to have a new student every year with fresh ideas. I was treated by all as an equal colleague rather than a student.
One to one monthly meetings were held with my manager and these were prioritised and organised in advance. Support and guidance could also be sought easily outside of these meetings.
The workload was irregular - the start of the month was much busier than the end where there were times where there was little to be completed.
Some jobs held more responsibility than others - customer portals were often business critical while other tasks were not high priority and so did not carry much responsibility. Social Media and changes to the event site were live immediately and so also carried responsibility.
Marketing and eBusiness skills will be highly useful in my final year and throughout my working life. Computing skills including programming were lacking in my job.
The Company
Always a relaxed and open atmosphere despite changes in structure and colleague redundancies due to the economic climate.
Previous student taught me the role well and everything I needed was already set up. I had no problems with settling in and my boss was already aware of what my needs were e.g. Uni work from past students.
Little training and development outside my immediate job role which was taught by my previous student.

Those who have completed a placement year at Xerox are made aware of and can apply to jobs first.
The Culture
Xerox hires around 90 students, with around 60 of those being based in Uxbridge with me. All students move in to the local University halls to begin and it is an excellent way to meet. No subsidised activites by Xerox.
Cost of living is average for the outskirts of London. There are little places to socialise nearby so often went into London which is expensive.
In Uxbridge there is few places to go to socialise and so socialising was often done at students houses with nights out to London planned regularly.
Charity fundraiser activities and sporting matches were the main activities outside of work to participate in.
