The Role
A very enjoyable job, I got the opportunity to do real work taht was needed by the group, and I was challenged and given the opportunity to develop technical and personal skills.
The guys in the group were very welocming and supportive when I needed help. We had a few good nights out and everyone has been very friendly.
The manager was often busy, but we had regular meetings to discuss progress and other staff gave regular guidance and support. The end of year review provided a good way to assess your performance.
Bored for the first few weeks, but it picked up after that and I generally had a few jobs to do at any one time.
I was given similar responsibility to a full employee at times, signing reports and carrying out important work.
I have developed some really good technical skill in Finite Element Analysis and in the software the group uses. My personal skills have also benefited greatrly, communication in reports, calls and meetings.
The Company
Atmospher was generally positive.
Problems with IT at the start, but afterwards the organisation was good.
One web-editor's course, otherwise the guys in the office spent a good bit of time helping me.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
I am expecting to get a job offer in October
The Culture
Lived with three fellow interns and was friends with a few others.
Derby is reasonably cheap, going out was not overly expensive, lived in an inexpensive part of town (ewnt = £200 per month each) and beside a 24 hour asda.
Nightlife in Derby is ok, but we lived far from the centre.
There was 5 a side football, teams to join and a gym, it was ok.
