The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at Metaswitch. I think it is a great place to work. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help. There is a high degree of flexibility of when you work and there are so many activities to take part in, such as sports tournaments.
I feel like I fitted into my team really well and I made good friends with a lot of the interns.
I was always given so much support and help from the very beginning. Weekly status meeting were good to track overall progress and gain generic advice. My manager also made sure that there was always someone to answer small daily queries whether she was in or not.
I had a good balance of work and a variety of tasks to complete so I was never bored or short of things to do.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility and my responsibility increased as the summer progressed.
The skills I developed may not necessarily be directly related to my university course but they will be useful beyond university. The Presentation and Feedback session that all the interns had to do was very useful in developing presentation skills.
The Company
Metaswitch is a great place to work. Everyone is really friendly and there is always something going on and someone to chat to if need be.
Everything was well organised and there was always someone willing to answer questions at any stage of the internship.
The company has invested a lot of time in me. They always made sure I knew what I was doing and what was expected of me. My manager always made sure I had the right training and equipment to get my job done.

I am still undecided what I want to do after university - but I have enjoyed my time here.
The Culture
There were intern lunches everyday and a few times we went out for lunch. The company has an IM system which all the interns used to chat and organise events. The interns also organised a rounders match against the graduates which was good fun. I have definitely made some friends this summer!
I did not go out in Enfield since it is close enough to Central London.
There is so much to get involved with - particularly sports.
