The Role
My time at Baxter from the word go was a amazing adventure and one that I will truly never forget. I have learned a wide range of skills that will no doubt help me in future job prospects. I have done and learned things that I can not just apply to IT industry but that can help me with everyday home activities. I have grown as a person and increased my confidence.
I felt I was a integral part of Baxter to my IT team or to my other colleagues there was not a single day where I did not feel valued. The office environment and people made it easy to have a easy conversation this leading to a friendly work atmosphere. The people at Baxter are always very grateful when helping out with any IT problems they may have and I never felt undervalued.
At the start I was taken though a training course and had various inductions to understand the different systems. Training came in the form of digital guides as well as a hands on approach. My manger and team were always on standby to offer support or advice on any situation that I may come across, if they were unable to offer support for that particular problem in question they would find someone who could.
I have always had something to do when work was running low all I had to do was ask and I would be assigned another job. Everyday was different and as long as I spoke up I was kept busy.
I was given a vast responsibility helping user in the UK and Ireland and have the ability access various systems. I was given full administrator rights and used this to help the business in supporting my colleagues. I was trusted to order phones and tablets equipment via our network telecommunications provider. I traveled offsite many times and provided training to my colleagues many time involving staying over at hotels.
I have gained such a large amount of professional skills via learning my self or from the various training courses Baxter provides. I will be using the skills I learned towards my final year project. Not only will the skills I learned help me in future job prospects but aid in developing myself as a person.
The Company
The atmosphere was helped by the open planed office and the quality of the people. Everyone was very friendly and always helpful. Before I arrived at Baxter I imagined the corporate world would be full of people screaming and demanding. I was very wrong in thinking that as everyone was always joyful and my manager was always there to lighten up the day. In the year and half I spent here I not once saw someone upset or angry.
Excellent is the only way to sum this up I was treated as a member of the team and not a student that was making the coffee. The planning and preparation for everything from projects to my training was always spot on.
The company paid for high end training courses to help in my presentation skills and various other development strategies Baxter truly invested their own time in ensuring I was properly trained and was a integral part of the team.

I have said it many times after a couple of months that I would love to return to Baxter after my studies the company does so much for the NHS and helps sustain peoples lives. To be part of this is amazing and my team and colleagues have made me feel so comfortable and valued. The corporate environment and the benefits working for Baxter have made it very easy to want to return.
The Culture
I have socialized with the other placement students a couple of times outside of working hours. I have also been envolved with various projects with the students. I have also been out with my colleagues to the nearby town for a meal and have also been out for a Christmas dinner in the restaurant in the nearby village.
I moved to Reading and although I shared accommodation with my Girlfriend the rent would have been perfectly fine if I was living by myself. Reading itself has lots to do and has good links to all other the country you can be in central London within a 40 minute train ride.
Compton is a small village I am unsure if it has any Nightlife but I do think reading itself has various activities which is only a 30 minute drive away.
Although I never got involved with anyone out of work activities there was endless amount of oppertunites to get evolved with.
