The Role
Really enjoyed it, great work environment that is surprisingly relaxed for an investment bank. Meaningful work that will benefit the team and very good events organised by graduate recruitment, overall a very well organised internship.
I felt like a part of the team from day 1, being given a valuable project was important to me and I was glad that this was the case. By the end of the internship I felt like I was actually useful and not someone that they had to find jobs for.
Various review meetings as well as general chat meant that I was never at a loss for what to do, although the culture is very much 'do your work in your own way' which is great for me but may not be good for people that prefer to have strict guidance.
I was never bored or at a loss for things to do, but I also was never really busy or stressed out. A few days were particularly hectic but overall quite relaxed, but there is always something to do.
Often it is difficult to give an intern with no formal training a large amount of responsibility, but given the nature of my project I was often given quite large exposure to many other colleagues and the work I was doing was absolutely important, but not business critical - which is expected from an internship position.
The tech skills learned will be really useful in the future, and my understanding of banking and finance has greatly improved. Beyond that, it has given me more of a vision of what I want to do with my career which is really important.
The Company
Relaxed atmosphere, typical of a tech company and not so much of the stereotypical banking atmosphere. Really flexible in terms of working hours and holidays, with a friendly environment, but everyone tends to get on with the work and so there is not much talking during work hours.
Very well organised. The induction session in London as well as various events throughout the internship were really good, and added benefit to the whole experience. They also placed everyone in a team suitable to their skills as oppose to just dumping them anywhere.
The company invests a lot in you considering you are a 10 week intern, from travelling to London for inductions and various events and training they really do quite a lot considering you aren't a fixed employee.

Very, the compensation and perks are above market average and it's a good working environment. Will be applying for a graduate position in the future.
The Culture
It was good, there wasn't much socializing with general colleagues but the social scene with the other interns was very good.
Living and working in Glasgow is much cheaper than comparable European cities
Glasgow nightlife is excellent, with lots of bars and clubs in the city centre and west end
Yes, there are various activities, including Hill-walking and Yachting
