The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at JPMorgan, the access we were given to the working life of an analyst was very impressive. The long hours were quite trying but that is to be expected.
My team instantly made me feel valued and a part of the team from simple things like being cc'd on emails and invited to meetings, to regular lunches and help.
There was a constant review system supported by good availability of managers and training.
The business of your day is sort of upto you as you can take on more work where you feel you can handle it. Overall I was never given too much work, but the late hours were difficult.
I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility to be accountable for the speed and quality of my work.
I have developed a unique understanding of working in a team, the financial markets and the basic tools of research, something a university degree would be incapable of supplying. I have also learnt a great deal about basic tools for successful career progression, how to develop oneself and career motivation.
The Company
The atmosphere was intimidating initially but overall I feel it is a friendly and welcoming environment.
HR run an incredible operation looking after the interns. However my first day on my desk was a bit uncoordinated. Overall very well run.
We had over a week of training before we even began the internship. This was top grade instruction and immensely valuable. Frequent training on projects throughout also helped my development. The staff are always available for questions.

The internship offers a high progression per centage onto employment and is also structured in a way so that it is not cut throat competition with the other peers. All you can do is focus on making yourself as good as possible.
The Culture
Good facilitation for us to meet other interns at the beginning and through personal decisions we kept this good social scene going throughout.
Very expensive, we are in central London! Also we are at the office late so not a huge amount of socialising.
London has some of the best nightlife in the world.
Yes but we had no time for that.
