The Role
I enjoyed it a lot having it been my first time working in a real office environment. It was challenging but not overwhelming and I believe that it will really help me going forward.
Well this would depend on person to person, for me personally I believe that some people are generally more approachable and interested by you and your work, whereas at times its difficult to find people who really value you.
I was lucky enough to have a great manager for the duration of my internship and she really helped me develop my soft skills as well as my technical skills. She really prioritized by career development.
Well it depends, on some days I would find myself quite busy and on others I would have a lot of spare time. But then again it is about managing priorities and deadlines and work load does depend on the time of the year and business to business.
I believe, from an intern perspective, I was given ample opportunity. However, that being said I would have really liked to be engaged on more of the core role related tasks than just side projects.
Having studied finance at university and working at the bank, I believe I really saw a lot of what I had previously learned come into practice. It was interesting to see how that linked to what I did on a daily basis and really believe It would help me moving forward.
The Company
At busy times it was quite busy, but then again everyone including myself were so engaged in our tasks that we didn't really see it as a negative point. At times when it was not as busy, it was a very friendly and open environment.
The internship was very well structured. We had loads of events that really gave us the opportunity to not just network but to enjoy ourselves. One being the CSR day where a lot of interns worked together.
Everybody was really happy to invest time into helping my development, given that it was a reasonable time for them to step out of their duties. It was all about approaching people in a positive manner. Aside from that there were a lot of formal training and development events.
Subsidised Canteen

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
They do take a lot of interns on to their graduate program and it was very appealing to see that. I am still waiting to receive my offer from them, but was told that my feedback had been generally very positive.
The Culture
Yes very! We usually went for drinks or dinner after work and there were a lot of events where we got together.
Cost of living was surprisingly quite cheap as compared to other accommodations further away. However, the cost of socialising was a bit more expensive than I initially imagined.
The nightlife in Canary Wharf is generally quite lively and exciting. I had gone out with a few friends on a few occasions, and it was loads of fun. At night time Canary Wharf looks amazing!
Yes there were to a reasonable amount. We got involved in some corporate social responsibility work that was quite exciting. There were other events such as the JPMorgan Corporate Challenge and Dragon Boat Race that were really exciting!
