The Role
I really liked this summer internship a lot, it definitely is worth spending 2 months there, it is not a "sacrifice" at all, you do not see the time fly by, and you learn so much, you are surrounded by brilliant people, you are kept busy, you have interesting things to do, as well as trading and stock pick to have some fun etc.
It is somewhat hard at the beginning because you cannot really have an impact (not FCA approved, no prior experience, can't speak with clients, all that things), but, genuinely, the banking industry does reward you for your hard work, people notice it, and in the end it is all about people - and I can assure that Citi employees are very, very nice folks!
I was more guided and helped by junior than by senior people, for the latter are truly busy, so, and it might be one regret, it is very hard to speak with your manager at times... But again, they notice what you do.
Busier in the morning than in the afternoon, as a general rule. Then it really varies from one day to the next, there is no rule. It was quite light in August though...
Obviously zero responsibility engaging the firm, which is more than normal. So it is all about trying and helping your team as much as you can(morning news, research project etc.), understanding what they do, when to go speak with them, and, above all, anticipating their needs, for bankers do not have time.
Not relevant with the IR studies I had pursued beforehand, but definitely fantastic for a career in the financial services industry - or wherever else thanks to the interpersonal skills you develop and the relationships you nurture.
The Company
Great!
Very well organized. The training week could have been a more useful maybe though - like most of the talks we had, we had them again on a weekly basis in the course of the internship.
They invest a lot In you, but I would say way more once you have joined the grad scheme and are a full-time employee.

Fantastic!
The Culture
Yes, very good group of interns - getting more stressed towards the end of the internship though. Some people really too "shark", but that's normal, that's the same everywhere I guess.
London, nothing to add -- .i.e. very, very, very expensive... But easy to go to work, direct access to the tube and DLR. Unfortunately Citi does not refund Tube expenses.
Really good - sales and trading life! Could have been even more frequent actually.
Yes for sure there are, but you do not have time during your internship.
