    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship to a 'crossing limits' extent. In terms of learning - I am from an economics background but towards the end of my internship I have become pretty good with SQL Server Management Studio which is very technical. It has opened a new world for me and I have decided to develop my technical learning. I have gained excellent exposure to many functional divisions by working and talking with diverse range of employees. I think experiencing J.P. Morgan culture will mark a positive change in my life. Now I feel more determined to build me career and develop both professionally and personally.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • To a very large extent - my managers supported and advised me on a day-to-day basis on top of end of week reviews. Rest of my colleagues were all very friendly and helpful whenever I approached them. My Senior Advisor was very supportive. So were other Senior Executives. Overall, in the end of 10 weeks I believe I would walk out of the door with a great amount of enriched knowledge.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days I was more busy as the work was challenging, Some days I was not very busy - I had time for after work drinks, a little weekend vacation to Belgium and running.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Not the most important responsibility in the firm and it is justified as I am a new learner and with that comes associated risks. Nonetheless, I worked on real business tasks - such as I created reports actually used for business.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think my experience was an eye opener for me. I am now in a better position to understand how degree studies help in practical work. I am more determined to develop my skills because now I know that developing myself would ultimately develop the team in the work place where I work and the firm, and the wider society. I would be able to contribute more effectively. Hence, learning is very important for the society.
