The Role
I enjoyed my internship to a 'crossing limits' extent. In terms of learning - I am from an economics background but towards the end of my internship I have become pretty good with SQL Server Management Studio which is very technical. It has opened a new world for me and I have decided to develop my technical learning. I have gained excellent exposure to many functional divisions by working and talking with diverse range of employees. I think experiencing J.P. Morgan culture will mark a positive change in my life. Now I feel more determined to build me career and develop both professionally and personally.
I felt really valued by my colleagues with the support and advice that I have received throughout my internship. They are always helpful and critical - it feels like all they want is the best for you.
To a very large extent - my managers supported and advised me on a day-to-day basis on top of end of week reviews. Rest of my colleagues were all very friendly and helpful whenever I approached them. My Senior Advisor was very supportive. So were other Senior Executives. Overall, in the end of 10 weeks I believe I would walk out of the door with a great amount of enriched knowledge.
Some days I was more busy as the work was challenging, Some days I was not very busy - I had time for after work drinks, a little weekend vacation to Belgium and running.
Not the most important responsibility in the firm and it is justified as I am a new learner and with that comes associated risks. Nonetheless, I worked on real business tasks - such as I created reports actually used for business.
I think my experience was an eye opener for me. I am now in a better position to understand how degree studies help in practical work. I am more determined to develop my skills because now I know that developing myself would ultimately develop the team in the work place where I work and the firm, and the wider society. I would be able to contribute more effectively. Hence, learning is very important for the society.
The Company
Very energetic and motivated. Everyone around works hard and looks focused. Everyone is knowledgeable in what they do and understands the business.
It is my second internship and comparatively it is definitely much better than my previous one. Independently, I think it is great with all kind of events tailored into the program from Senior Advisor events to talks to networking events.
I received a lot of training and development. I think it kept me occupied all the time - which is one thing I really liked.
