The Role
The offices and the team I was in were both very nice, however I interned in Bournemouth and didn't live with other interns, this took away from the overall experience of the internship.
My team made me feel very welcome from the word go and it was very easy to get along with everyone in the office.
My manager has been fantastic in terms of providing me with support and feedback which allowed me to progress and learn. Additionally I have a buddy I can go to, a senior advisor, and a dedicated recruitment team. The support structure at JPMorgan cannot be faulted in any way. We are given constant feedback and have mid and end of internship reviews where we are told whether or not we are on track to be offered a position on the graduate scheme, meaning as an intern you always know where you stand.
Due to the nature of the role I found myself in, I have had very busy days, and very quiet days. I am able to start at 9 and leave work at 5. However I do know some other interns who work from 8am till 7pm most days and are very busy throughout. How busy you are depends on what office you have your internship in.
At the start of the Internship I was given fairly low risk tasks. Further into the internship I was allowed more responsibility.
The skills I developed over the 10 week internship allowed me to be better organised with my time and work load. This will assist me for my university studies. Additionally getting used to working hard 9-5 Monday to Friday will mean that University working hours will not be a struggle in any way.
The Company
There was a good balance between friendly chat and getting work done. I never felt bored with my team, and simple things like the teams weekly bake off challenge made me feel part of a group of friends as well as colleagues. On Fridays the office has a 'dress down' day which makes the office environment feel very relaxed.
Extremely well organised. Couldn't fault the process from our pre-assessment, to onboarding, to daily work.
The firm take training and development very seriously. We have job specific training courses when we start and all sorts of other training in between, including firm wide approaches such as understanding our code of conduct or how we conduct Anti Money Laundering services. The firm also invest time in developing soft skills and set up networking events and allow you to go and shadow other teams, other business functions and in my case I was able to go and have a day out of our Bournemouth office and got to the London office, meeting people and building a network is seen as very important in JPM.

Very appealing, the internship has helped me understand how well JPMorgan look after their employees and 'young talent', I could definitely see myself working for this firm.
The Culture
If you live in the University accommodation with other interns the social side is very good. I chose not to and subsequently did miss out on the nights out etc.
The University accommodation the majority of Interns stayed in was about £110 per week. A night out in Bournemouth could be very cheap or very costly dependent on what you wanted to do. Fortunately the pay we receive as interns is very generous, additionally as interns we were given a relocation cost for the summer which covered almost all of the rent on the student rooms people were staying in.
Bournemouth is a pretty standard night out. There are nice alternative little places you can go to if you want something a bit different. Or there are the regular clubs you'll find in most cities.
Yes lots! Either through your team, or an internal committee who arrange activities like go-carting etc. for the weekends. The monthly pub quiz is something my team particularly enjoyed.
