The Role
I really enjoyed the whole of the internship experience at Barclays. I enjoyed the role within my team, although it was not a role that I had expected in HR, I was able to learn a lot.
I felt valued by the team and I felt that my input was appreciated.
My manager was excellent in offering me the opportunities to learn more about the business and areas that might interest me. My manager realised that building knowledge during my internship was just as important as completing work for the team.
Some days were busier than others. At the start I was quite quiet.
I was given individual tasks to take responsibility for but was really used as a support from the team on adhoc work.
I had already graduated when completing the internship but the skills I learnt over the 3 months were great at equipping me for a role in the financial services.
The Company
I feel that there was a really good atmosphere in the office. There was a balance between hard work and a good team spirit.
I was constantly impressed by the organisation of the internship.
The firm seemed to genuinely care about my development and the next steps I wanted to take with my career.
The firm invest in their interns with the intention of them returning as graduates.
The Culture
They were always things going on - people would go out for drinks and socialise which was nice.
Expensive but that is expected from London and salaries match the cost of living.
Cool bars and restaurants nearby.
I wasn't really aware of activities outside of work.
