    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great team and tasks were enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 10 weeks isn't long enough, but comfortable enough by then.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Manager was very busy, so I felt they often didn't have time.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Often waiting on other people (outside of the team normally), or someone else with the appropriate access level or knowledge to fix a technical issue that had arisen.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lack of responsibility initially is expected really, so not necessarily a bad thing.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The knowledge is helpful, and will be useful in the way I think about things, as well as an understanding of how data modelling works.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed. Friendly

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Nicely organised, although difficult for the team as there didn't seem to be a project I could take on. I was mainly just doing bits and bobs here and there. It was organised well though - good talks etc.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Induction in London at the start. Talks from high profile speakers throughout the internship. Meeting with senior management.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have already accepted a job that starts immediately. Seems like a good company to work for so far!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Glasgow. I already had a flat there, so was easy for me.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • n/a I never went out, so I can't comment.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Badminton was on the cards at one point, but never materialised unfortunately. There do seem to be opportunities, but just happened not to be any during my 10 weeks. Hopefully later there will be.
