The Role
It was very insightful and I learnt a lot. It was a busy week but also a very enjoyable week. It gives you a good idea of what to expect from the summer internship
Everyone I met was very happy to give up their time to talk to me and other people had the same experience.
We were all given a 'buddy' who was someone that had joined RBS 6months ago on the graduate scheme and so were able to relate to us and inform us about working for RBS. The HR team were always around for guidance and to help things run smoothly.
It was very busy and some days did feel very long but I think this is a realistic reflection of what it would be like to work in finance.
On the insight week you are not really given any responsibility
Very useful in terms of gaining knowledge of financial market concepts but it was more of a week of observing and learning so I did not really learn any transferable skills. Although there were talks on networking which is a vey useful skill to master.
The Company
Professional and approachable.
Everything was perfectly organised by the HR team and they were always around to make sure that everything went to plan
Practically the whole week could be described as gtraining so i would say that the company invested a lot in its interns and in all the talks it was keen to emphasis the superiority of the RBS graduate scheme in terms of training and experiences offered
I have been offered a summer internship at RBS which I was keen to accept.
The Culture
All the other people on the programme were great fun and there was plenty of opportunity to socialise with them.
It was in the City of London so it was expensive however RBS gave us £10 travel expenses per day and a £10 dinner budget
Unknown
We were only there for a week!
