The Role
I enjoyed the placement much more than I ever thought I would, it has been a great and invaluable experience.
Generally I felt that my contribution was valued however limitations on hours meant that I felt less useful to them than I could otherwise have been.
The level of support from my supervisors and the people I worked with was incredible and helped me to fit in and settle in to the job much quicker.
Some days were quiter than others but that cmae from the nature of working with different groups of people on different projects, overall I felt like I managed to achieve a good balance.
I was given what I would consider a good level of responsibility for the level I was working at - there was never so much pressure that the responsibility became stressful, it was at an enjoyable level that served to push me to work harder.
All of the skills I have learnt on this placement both technical, on computers and general skills needed for the workplace will be invaluable both in my degree and in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very welcoming and not as stressful as I had thought it may be. There was a good balance between a more sociable/friendly atmosphere and a focussed and working one. Personally, I found it a great environment to work in that enabled me to focus on my work well without being intimidating.
Overall the internship was set up very well with a lot of social events and well managed transitions between the different stages. I felt very well informed during the entire process.
The company invested a good level of training in us at the beginning. Although it was only a short time most of the learning is done on the job and so I felt that it was a good level.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
The future employment prospects are very appealing.
The Culture
There is a very lively social scene amongst colleagues although this is likely due to the work being quieter over the summer months.
Naturally pretty expensive as the internship is based in London.
One of the perks of working in the city is being close to everywhere in London.
There were a range of charity, volunteering and sporting opportunities to get involved in.
