The Role
I have enjoyed every moment i have worked for Microsoft, learning from my peers and getting envolved with social activities.
Most people treat me like a Full time member of staff. Yet there are a couple of individuals that will always look down there nose at the intern. I never had to make Coffee :)
My manager was always ready with advise whenever in needed it. But more fantastically he never micro-managed me, he trusted me to take care of the job in hand and keep him updated with status reports. Very approachable, not over bearing, A perfect combination.
Always busy, Worked unsocial hours all the time, its expected of you in a global companie. Thats not to say that you ever resent doing so, you feel as though its part of your job that what you are doing is important and need to be done. Microsoft builds happily motivated work-aholics.
I was solely responsible for an application that has been put in place to aid the orgs execs in making business dicisions based on the data that I give them.
I have learned so any new skills, technical, business and social.these will all be valuable throughout life.
The Company
There is always something to get involved in or an xbox to play during those breif lulls. People are welcoming and for the most part like minded.
Very well organised, some of the current interns are involved in the organisation of the next generation of interns.
There was no shortage of of investment, from team meetings and training days in Seattle and Global Conferences in Hong Kong.
