The Role
RateMyPlacement was a fantastic learning experience. I really enjoyed my time with the organisation and the overall tasks that I was asked to complete.
I felt valued by my colleagues from day one. I certainly was never treated as an intern and often had to remind clients and other stakeholders that I was leaving at the end of the year to go back to University!
As this was the first intake of placement students support and guidance was limited at times and I was not always line managed. However, this placement is for someone who has initiative and does not need their hand holding on a daily basis! Support and guidance is readily available if you ask for it and everyone is always keen to give advice and share their knowledge.
There was always something to do in the Office. As with any job there are peaks and troughs. I was exceptionally busy from September to April.
I could not have asked for more responsibility. At Fresher's, Careers and Presentation events I was the sole representative for RMP. I also managed a team of 32 Brand Managers, was put in charge of a large recruitment project, which included organising assessment centre days and training events. I completed a logistics project as well as oversaw a marketing campaign and strategy.
I think my organisation and presentation skills have increased dramatically, which can only aid me when I return to University.
The Company
The Office is a hardworking but fun place to be. There is always Spotify on in the background! Don't be late on a Friday as the last person into the Office has to buy the bacon sandwiches!
As explained previously this was the first in-take of students and therefore the placement was at times very adhoc. The great thing about RateMyPlacement is that you can choose to a certain extent the projects that you would like to work on and are not pigeon holed into one role, as you most probably would be in a larger organisation.
As a small company it is unrealistic to expect to go on extensive training courses and a lot of on the job training occurred. However, I was given sales training and I was also invited to several conferences over the course of the year.

Due to the rapid growth of RateMyPlacement graduate opportunities may arise, although there is no formal scheme in place. As RMP works closely with over 120 Graduate Recruiters it has been easy to network with others and make contacts within various industries.
The Culture
The social scene at RateMyPlacement has been fantastic. There was a Christmas party and a few other social events over the course of the year. Although employees did not live in each others pockets there was a good atmosphere between both staff and management.
It is London - if you expect it to be cheap you will be bitterly disappointed!
I lived and worked in Central London which was a fantastic experience.
As a small company it is unrealistic to expect a huge variety of out of work activities. However, the team often socialised with one another outside of work.
