    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed it very much.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Greatly valued. I got given responsibility and work that added value to the team and all members of the team treated me as an equal/

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had a weekly meeting with my manager and I was given as much support and guidance as necessary.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy. Always had on going work to be doing. Sometimes very busy and ended up staying in late and coming in early but all work was manageable.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot. A lot of the work that I started will be used after I leave my placement. It shows to me it was not just for the sake of giving me work. There were also a few pieces of work that were not urgent but the team wanted done for a long time. I managed to cross off a few of those projects off their list.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It has greatly developed my skills to move on. I 've learnt a lot about the working culture and environment and have picked up a lot of new key tools that I may use further in my studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a calm and relaxed atmosphere but work would always be done as it was still a serious working environment.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was highly organized. Meetings, talks and events were notified well in advance and calendars were always up to date.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have received around 15 hours of online training and have been taught how to use systems and go through processes by my managers within the team. The company also gave us a wide exposure but organizing talks and events with senior employees and I was always allowed to be proactive and attend other events outside of my team if I wished.

  • Subsidised/Company Gym

  • I believe it is very appealing

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene. You would see the fellow students and colleagues at the canteen and gym. You would also see fellow students and colleagues regularly socializing for a casual drink after work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was more expensive than at university. But this is because I was based in London for my placement.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Casual drinks were a common social occasion. Don't believe clubbing was huge amongst my peers.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, I attended two volunteering events during my placement and we are always advertised about internal events via email.
