The Role
I enjoyed it very much.
Greatly valued. I got given responsibility and work that added value to the team and all members of the team treated me as an equal/
I had a weekly meeting with my manager and I was given as much support and guidance as necessary.
Busy. Always had on going work to be doing. Sometimes very busy and ended up staying in late and coming in early but all work was manageable.
A lot. A lot of the work that I started will be used after I leave my placement. It shows to me it was not just for the sake of giving me work. There were also a few pieces of work that were not urgent but the team wanted done for a long time. I managed to cross off a few of those projects off their list.
It has greatly developed my skills to move on. I 've learnt a lot about the working culture and environment and have picked up a lot of new key tools that I may use further in my studies.
The Company
It was a calm and relaxed atmosphere but work would always be done as it was still a serious working environment.
It was highly organized. Meetings, talks and events were notified well in advance and calendars were always up to date.
I have received around 15 hours of online training and have been taught how to use systems and go through processes by my managers within the team. The company also gave us a wide exposure but organizing talks and events with senior employees and I was always allowed to be proactive and attend other events outside of my team if I wished.
Subsidised/Company Gym
I believe it is very appealing
The Culture
There was a good social scene. You would see the fellow students and colleagues at the canteen and gym. You would also see fellow students and colleagues regularly socializing for a casual drink after work.
It was more expensive than at university. But this is because I was based in London for my placement.
Casual drinks were a common social occasion. Don't believe clubbing was huge amongst my peers.
Yes, I attended two volunteering events during my placement and we are always advertised about internal events via email.
