My insight was in the audit service line within Deloitte. I thoroughly enjoyed my wok placement because I gained valuable knowledge about the role of auditor's. I also gained experience working with different clients and working along with companies in various sectors. The people that I worked along with during my placement were very friendly and helpful.

Throughout my placement I felt very valued. I was given responsibility from the first day and got a lot of experience with different types of work. I was given tasks to complete each day and it was clear that I was very valued during my time at Deloitte. During my placement I was treated as a valued member of the firm.

I received as much guidance and support as was possible. Although I was given an abundance of responsibility, I never felt overwhelmed with the work because I received as much support and guidance as I required. Every member of staff at the company was very friendly and helpful, and they were always more than happy to help.

The skills I developed during my placement at Deloitte will help to a certain extent with my degree. I study accounting at university, so a placement in audit can only have limited assistance to my degree. However, I believe that the skills that I have obtained during my time at Deloitte will assist me greatly in my future career.

In my opinion the insight was structured very well. I believe that it was planned in advance to a high standard because on my first day I was informed what work I would be assigned to for the next two weeks. I also believe that the placement had a very good mixture of work experience and theory learning, which made my time very educational.

The atmosphere in the Deloitte office was very friendly and welcoming. The office was never silent and communication between members of the staff was encouraged during my time at the firm. I also believe that this atmosphere assisted me, and the other placement students, with our work because it was very easy to ask someone for assistance.

The frim invested a lot in their placement students in terms of personal training and development. At the start of the placement there was an introduction and training trip to Birmingham. This time was very useful because it was used to explain what work we would be completing and also what our role would entail. Furthermore, we were given training throughout the placement.

The insight helped me understand what a full time role within the firm would be like to a great extent. From the start I was giving an abundance of work and I was working alongside the other members of staff. I believe that a full time role within Deloitte would be quite similar to the role that I had in Deloitte during my placement.

The insight helped me understand quite a lot about the company culture. However, because my time at Deloitte only lasted for three and a half weeks I believe that I was unable to fully understand every about the company culture. If the placement lasted a few weeks longer then it would be easier to understand the company culture.

The content of the day was very valuable in influencing my decision on my future career path. During my time at Deloitte I was exposed to a variety of work and I was also working with many different clients. This gave me a great insight into what a future career in this job would be like, which has helped me decide my future career path.

For my placement at Deloitte I was paid adequately and reimbursed for the expenses that I incurred. In my opinion the pay was very competitive. The expenses that I was reimbursed included the travelling costs for the introduction and training days in Birmingham. Furthermore, expenses for travelling to clients were also reimbursed by Deloitte.

There were opportunities for networking and meeting other employees at the firm. During my time I found that communication at the office was encouraged, this made it very easy to meet and network with the other employees of the firm. Furthermore, when working with clients I was always along with another member of the firm, which helped with networking.

During my placement at Deloitte there were many networking and social event opportunities. These included lunches with everyone in the office, the introduction and training time at Birmingham and there was always a company barbeque after work on the first week of each month. These events made it very easy to socialise with the other members of staff.

The activities that employees can get involved in outside of work are, in my opinion quite limited. I believe that there are not an abundance of activities for after work. However, there are some social activities that employees can get involved in outside of work. Although, if my placement lasted longer than three and a half weeks, I'm confident that I would become aware of more activities.

I would recommend this placement to anyone who was considering a career in accounting or finance. I believe that it is very useful because it gives an idea of what a full time career in this sector will be like. Also, the placement is a great opportunity to meet new people and also get advice of various things like accounting exams.
