The Role
It was very enjoyable. Everyone was really friendly and took time aside to get to know you.
My first department made me feel particularly welcome. Everyone would stop for a chat/say hello, or be available if you needed help with some work. My second department was friendly but it felt a bit more hierarchical.
Both of my supervisors (and my buddies) were extremely welcoming and friendly. They both gave me advice with my work and were approachable if I did not understand a particular issue. They were also very helpful in talking about the assessment day and answering any questions.
I was given quite a lot of work in my first department but not so much in my second. However, you always have something to do: whether it be a research task or work given to you by someone in your department (not necessarily your supervisor, others will give you work too).
I was given a lot of responsibility from the outset: within the first two days I had carried out research for an associate and drafted a transaction. I found this a particularly appealing part of the scheme as it gave you a real insight into life as a trainee.
I mainly used skills I have already developed (i.e. researching) but it was useful in consolidating those skills.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and there was a real sense that everyone got along with eachother.
HR were extremely well organised in organising events, making sure we had work to do and being generally approachable.
N/A
Choosing a firm is very much a personal choice but, from my experience, I would find it very enjoyable to be a part of the firm.
The Culture
The office is located in Liverpool street...kind of speaks for itself.
Some activities were organised for us (bowling etc).
