The Role
I enjoyed living in london and the challenge of working somewhere new, the job is probably not what I would hope to do in the future though.
Very valued, such a lovely team
Very friendly but had to push to be given work and to be more included in the team.
Not as busy as I thought I would be, sometimes had to wait for work to be given to me
Again not as much responsibility as I might have thought - although did get more important things to do towards the end of my internship.
Rather than specific skills to take back to my degree I would say its just improved my job/ soft skills
The Company
Very relaxed and friendly, everyone very eager to explain things to you and generally a very good culture.
NOt brilliantly organised, HR were not always the quickest to send us event notifications and I don't think the line managers have much instruction on what to do with the interns so I felt rudderless sometime.
Very good learning sessions to learn more about the bank and lots of time spent with my team to increase my knowledge and skills. You can see the company are putting a lot into their early careers programme.
I would definitelty consider this company again if I was hoping to get a job in this sector, although there have been issues I wouldn't say that you wouldn't find them at any large corporation.
The Culture
The number of interns in my division was a good number, not so karge that we couldn't organise stuff together but not so few that personalities would clash if people didn't get a long so all the interns were actually really friendly by the end, going out for dinner/picnics.
Its London so its high, I found reasonably priced accommodation and they give you a reallocation allowance, I budgeted to try and keep my cost down this summer but that was my choice.
Not an area I'm really into so I don't know personally but talking to other interns it seems expensive but very fun!
Yes tonnes of things going on in London as you would expect, things linked to wokr like sports clubs and social groups but then also so much other stuff like events, markets, theatre, etc.
