The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at PSA Peugeot Citroen. The scheme is very well organised and I strongly feel that the year has been highly valuable to me. I have learnt vital skills and gained some great experience in a very friendly and exciting organisation
From the beginning of my placement, I found that I was treated like any other employee rather than a placement student. My colleagues in my departments were all very friendly and supportive, which made it extremely easy to settle in when I first started. I quickly became part of the team.
In both departments I worked in, I found my line managers to be very friendly and supportive. They were always open to help with any questions or concerns I had, and encouraged me to get involved with as many different tasks as possible.
Due to the nature of the work I was involved in, my workload varied throughout the month. In my first placement I had specific month end responsibilities that had to be completed within the first three days of the month; at these times I was particularly busy. During quieter times of the month I had ongoing project based work that I was involved in
When starting my placement I was shocked by the amount of responsibility I was given. It made me feel that I was a valuable member of the team and that I was contributing significantly to the organisation.
I feel that I have gained valuable skills over my placement year. In particular I have significantly improved my organisation, presentation and excel skills. I feel that all of these will be particularly valuable when completing my final year degree and for my future career
The Company
Both departments I worked in had a very friendly atmosphere whilst remaining professional
The placement scheme was very well organised from the start. It was well structured and ensured that you got the most out of the experience. Regular training sessions were also provided throughout the year
The company organised regular training sessions throughout the year. This focused on improved your key skills such as communication, presentation and influencing. I also had weekly French lessons throughout my placement year which were provided by the company
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year experience at PSA Peugeot Citroen. I will definitely be applying for the Graduate Scheme
The Culture
I had strong friendships with the other placement students and also made friendship groups with colleagues in my departments. I would regularly socialise out side of work hours with colleagues and fellow students
I commuted from home to work each day so my cost of living was quite low. Socialising in Coventry however was not particularly expensive
Nightlife in Coventry is pretty average; however you are very near to Birmingham City Centre where there are plenty of bars and clubs
There were a few social events organised by the company over the year such as a Fun Day, quiz nights, Christmas party etc..
