The Role
I really enjoyed meeting new people from the my bank across different desks and divisions. The work was interesting and challenge in just the right amount.
My colleagues respected my opinion and input during pitches. They also acknowledged my strengths while givig me constructive feedback to improve on my weaknesses.
I had meetings with my line-manger in the beginning, middle and end of my internship. We established different objectives together and went through them accordingly after. No matter how busy they are, time is always set aside to guide me.
It was not too fast paced at the beginning of the internship as time was given for interns to settle in. After building trust with the team, I was given more responsibility to work on pitches for clients.
Besides from assisting analysts on pitches, I was set on a long term project to update a database for the team.
My attention to detail has increased massively over the summer through the every day use of excel, powerpoint, factset, dealogic, etc. I have also improved my soft skills on how to speak to seniors and act in certain social situations
The Company
Everyone works hard but also play hard. My teams were very outgoing and friendly. Yet, they were all so efficient when it came to work.
We had lots of networking events and HR replied to all my queries in a prompt manner.
Barclays have multiple talent initiatives and networks which forcuses on developing young talent in the firm.

Company Car
The job challenges me both quantitatively and qualitatively while my team is very supportive!
The Culture
Us interns went for drinks if possible on Fridays and occassionally meet up on weekends which was very nice to relax after work.
Canary Wharf is rather pricey given that it provides for people who work in the financial industry. You would expect a daily spending of £10-15.
There are plenty of pubs, bars, and restaurants.
