The Role
Highly enjoyed it. Was given set objectives from day 1, given a lot of attention from mentors and managers whom constantly reviewed my performance and learning curve. The culture is also great and people are generally approachable and helpful.
The firm definately puts a huge emphasis towards all the interns, making us feel part of the team and involving us in all activities. I did work on quite a few things alone that was sent out to clients and appreciated by the team.
Fully, I always knew what to do and work on and there was always someone to take the time to explain something in further detail if needed.
On my first rotation I would typically get in at 7.30, start work immediately and work efficiently throughout the day. There is always something to do but given the lower activity in the summer months it was never unbearable.
Depended a lot on the task at hand. I was given a lot of free room to think and create but it would always be checked by an analyst before sent away
Being constantly involved in the market developments and what clients look at has helped my overall understanding of the business to a great extent. The practical pricing methods as compared to what you learn at University also differs a lot so you definately learn some really useful things.
The Company
Good people, efficient and smart individuals. All very respectful and even MD's were quite approachable.
HR put a lot of work into the programme and did a great job. The structure, events and catch ups has all been done professionally and as an intern I felt valued and cared about
We had internal and external trainings, depending on which team you worked for. Apart from that, my assigned mentors spent a considerable amount of time teaching me the business
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
very appealing
The Culture
Definately among the interns but the analysts were also happy to join in for after work drinks at times.
Cost of living is generally very high
In Canary wharf, not great. But no one tends to stay there during the weekend anyhow but heads 20 min to get central.
We could get involved in one charity project
