The Role
A fantastic insight to a diverse and varied field, definitely breaking the stereotypes of what investment banking is.
Team building and the fact that I live outside of the commuting area meant that I shared an apartment with a fellow RBS insight candidate, making the experience more valuable.
I felt that the buddy system was particularly well done at RBS as I felt clued up with a buddy who took genuine interest in my insight week and what I had learned. I found the interview and assessment day informative as alot of feedback was given on our interview technique and our rotations.
Having talks durnig lunch and two rotations today enabled us to gain the most from this insight. Running from breakfast to after the team building 7:30 gave us a true insight of the daily schedules of people who work in this area.
As it was an insight, we weren't given a huge amount of responsibility as we were still learning a great deal. We did have to organise our time efficiently and work hard ourselves to stand out from other very bright candidates.
I learnt such a great deal during the RBS insight weeks; teambuilding skills, the diversity of investment banking and meeting other like minded individuals who hope to go into this area in the future. It was a hugely valueable experience cementing my desire to work in investment banking in the future.
The Company
As we were rotating through the different areas of investment banking we were put into many different atmospheres from high pressured to very individual based. However the general atmosphere was incredibly driven.
Incredibly well organised work placement where I felt that they offered the most possible during the given time.
They invested a great deal of skills and knowledge of RBS and what investment banking is. RBS seemed to want to nurture you from Spring Insight to a full job.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Lucky enough to be offered a summer internship with them in 2012. Very excited by this prospect.
The Culture
It was a fantastic opportunity to meet like minded driven people who want a career in this field.
As it is in London it would have been quite expensive however we were subsidised well.
The bank development had lovely restaurants and bars right on the river which were great when going out for dinner after work.
The insight was intensive due to being such a short period of time so it was not necessary to consider oustide adtivities, however London offers many opportunities.
