The Role
My experience at Barclays Treasury was extremely nice. I got my hands on many different projects within different areas and gained much experience. Everyday I got to learn something new, which was amazing and useful for my professional development.
Colleagues were very friendly and approachable. They were calm and complacent and didn't mind me asking as many questions as I wanted to. Their advice and feedback on different projects has helped me to finish my tasks efficiently. They all were very warm and welcoming, always asked me to approach should I have any questions. Overall, I can say, I was working with an A-team
I really like their approach of assigning a buddy(graduate) to everyv inten, as it's much easier to approach someone of the same level. I have also been assigned to a VP as well.
I have normally been pretty busy and workin 9 am to 9pm approximately. I have been proactive about engaging in many projects.
My work was considered valuable. I often helped my supervisors to prepare reports and presentations as well as communicate with other divisions via emails. I was also given a chance to complete an individual project and present it to the whole team.
The skills I have learned are extremely transferable. For instance, I have learned a lot about financial statements and RWAs. Moreover, skills like Excel Modelling and Power Point would be of a good use anywhere.
The Company
People at Barclays were generally friendly and happy. They are a bit focused on their own work and don't communicate with each other a lot.
All of my weeks at Barclays were well-structured. I had weekly meetings with my line-manager . During the meeting I got to discuss any quetsions or concerns I had.
I found training especially good, we were given a lot of presentation across the teams in treasury and also we had a lot of materials in the drive. Some of my senior colleagues completed knowledge sharing sessions on a weekly basis, which was extremely helpful.
They are recruiting well for a number of positions.
The Culture
Yes, my intern group was amazing
London is generally expensive.
