    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight, it gave me a lot of experience in an area I previously knew very little about, and so gave me invaluable insight into whether I thought I would enjoy having that job as a career after graduation.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The people were all very friendly and welcoming, the only thing stopping me ranking it higher is that audit involves a lot of technical knowledge, which I didn't have coming from a maths degree, so I felt that I needed a lot of guidance to complete my work.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I didn't have any prior experience of accounting or audit, so really didn't know how to do anything, but everyone was incredibly supportive, and made me feel comfortable and able to ask any questions I had. I particularly liked that if my manager for that task was busy then anyone else around was more than willing to help too.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I have a much better grasp of basic accounting knowledge, which will help me in my final year of my maths degree as I have a finance module, and if I am successful in getting a job at Deloitte it will put me in a really good position when I join, as I will have already learned some skills, particularly on their IT systems.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. There was a centralised introduction event for all the regional offices and a training day, then when I started on work I was given a wide variety of things to do, giving me insight into different areas.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was really friendly, and everyone was really welcoming. I worked with several different teams and they were all kind and approachable, and always made sure I was happy with what I was doing.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My training was very thorough, and I was encouraged to ask as many questions as I could, and they were all answered and explained well. We were also given a presentation on interview techniques at the induction event.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I had lots of hands on experience doing jobs that would normally be done by first year graduates, and did this continuously for the three weeks, so I feel that I would know what to expect if I was given a full time role.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • By working with lots of different people I was able to ask them all about what they do, and what they like and dislike about the culture of the company, and everyone had very positive responses. It was also clear from the atmosphere in the office.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Before I started the internship I wasn't really sure of what the job really involved, and wasn't sure if I would enjoy it, but the hands on experience I was given was invaluable, and I found that I really enjoyed doing the job, and that I would like to do it as a career.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid a good salary and my expenses were reimbursed in the same way as all the other employees.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I spent some time working in a large, open plan office, and the rest of my time working with different teams of people, so I met lots of other employees. On one job I also worked with employees from another Deloitte office, and at the induction event I was able to network with the interns from other regional offices.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were several social events during the three weeks, most of which were arranged for the inters, and we were also invited to their annual summer ball.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Several people I worked with were on the football team, and they arrange events such as sports days as well.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Overall my internship was a hugely positive experience. I feel like I learned a lot, was given huge amounts of insight into the job, and felt really welcomed and valued by everyone I worked with.

    5/5
