    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great opportunity to meet bright people that are very passionate about their jobs. I learned a lot and developed not only technical skills but also personal and team ones. The working hours obviously depend on each team and sector of activity, but for IB they were not so bad (c. 15 hours/day)

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone made us interns feel needed and always assigned us meaningful tasks, through which we could learn and improve our knowledge.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was 100% helpful and never refused to answer a question or explain something twice (or three times if needed). Nevertheless, during the internship I felt a bit lost between tasks and staffing, once we were not always assigned something to do, which meant we had to go around and ask for work

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We had incredibly stressing times throughout some days, and other days we would have little to do. On these days, I would have to go around and ask other team members what I could do for them.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We are given very little responsibility in the beginning, and throughout the internship (and according to our performance), it increases. You have room to (sometimes) choose the way you want to complete a task, but there's always a "safety net" because your work is 100% of the times revised by someone, who will tell you if what you did was wrong or right.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A lot. I didn't take my finance-related courses yet, which means that a lot of what I've learned here is going to help me on that. Also, the ability to manage time and workload is definitely going to be helpful.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was always nice, helpful and generally in a good mood, although there was a lot o pressure to work long hours.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • HR did and amazing job connecting the interns along the different sectors and with full time employees. We had a mid-term review of our work which gave us a sense of how our performance was being perceived and if we were going in the right track.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The teams were always willing to dispend their time to help and teach us. Not only during the training weeks but also throughout the internship. All the events planned by HR to get the interns to network were also a big investment from the company

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The feedback has been good, and it would be amazing to get the offer

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. You could feel you were among bright, driven and successful people, that could balance their work and personal life very well.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Canary Wharf, London. Not the cheapest area in the world.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not that great, worse that in central London.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not that many. There were only the activities organised by HR.

    3/5
