The Role
I absolutely loved it. I got exposure to seevral live transactions. Very nice people everywhere, with seniors very oppened to answer questions and meet people.
Very much. Everyone (including seniors) were willing to listen to my ideas, not matter how basic they were, and happy to discuss at any point.
I was always given feedback when I asked. Also, when being given work, people would always offered themselves to anser any questions I may have and be happy to help.
I was fairly busy, with some free time as well which at some points can be nice. But I would've liked to have as bit more work, specially on my second rotation (two weeks).
I was given a lot more responsability that I could've thought off. A lot of my work was crucial and I could've caused big trouble if I wouldn't have done my job properly.
Not so much in my degree (I was mainly in the debt side) but definitely in any other internships or jobs I may undertake. If I get the offer, it will be a massive help as I will know exactly what to expect. Equally, I know that even in a different area I will be able to apply the skills I have acquired here.
The Company
Very friendly. It was also very busy with people working in an efficient way. I met a lot of different people, as everyone was happy to grab a quick coffee at any point.
It was ok. I had a lot of trouble for the first three weeks as my Bloomberg didn't arrive for that period. There were some problems with the initial desk location and phone wasn't working properly. I think this is definitely an area of improvement. However, there were many learning sessions for the different areas of Investment Banking and it was easy to network thanks to all the events set up by HR.
The training prior the internship was outstanding. very relevant, just two and a half days. No wasting time around with useless sessions and joining the desk ASAP. Having interned in other banks, I thought Barclays' was the best by a large margin.

Super appealing. I would absolutely love to work for Barclays. Everything just blended in: reputation, workload, people, investing in juniors, etc. I really hope I get the offer in a few days!
The Culture
Very much! People were outgoing and happy to go for drinks, etc. I feel like I made a few friends and look forward to seeing other interns getting their offers as well.
I already lived in London so I didn't have to incurr any extra cost regarding accomodation. Socialising was average, going for drinks in London. If you go out for lunch it can be more pricy (went for sushi with the team and spent 30 pounds a head.
It's London, so night life is always great. many places to go to, plus quite a few interns were english so they knew good places. The team also went out sometimes. Overall, London is the place for night life.
Absolutely. We had some chances to join a charity project which allowed us to do something different during our internship. It was very much appreciated, as sometimes it's nice to change activity.
