The Role
A good experience, learnt a lot about the way commercial banking operates within Lloyds. Also, liked the fact I was able to spend days in other departments within the company which was good for broadening my ideas about future job prospects.
Colleagues came to me for help with queries relating to managerial information in the area and I felt a lot of the work I did was used across the area by the managers. Although, I did feel that a lot of people didn't understand my role and what I could help them with so was underutilised at times.
My manager was very helpful and explained how to do any tasks she had for me and was always happy to help with any queries I had.
Some days I did feel there wasn't that much for me to do and it was difficult for members of the team to think of tasks for me.
I had responsibility over creating various pieces of information for the area but I would say I was not given responsibility over anything particularly challenging.
I learnt skills in communication and how to act within an office environment. The experience of doing real work in a bank and having a greater understanding of commerical banking will be invaluable to draw from when applying for graduate jobs in the future.
The Company
Atmosphere was good in the office, it is quite a small office so could be quiet some days. When it was busier there was a good level of chat. People were always very friendly and helpful.
Fairly good, however my line manager was tasked to give me all my work and sometimes there simply wasn't that much for me to do. I think there could have been a bit more guidance from head office on the kind of things an intern on my kind of placement could be doing.
Not very much but there was little need for training on a 10 week placement. I think if i had needed training for something though it could have been easily supplied.
Very appealing I would very much like a grad job with Lloyds. There are a variety of programmes and I may apply to a different one. Even once on a grad placement I believe there is plenty of opportunity for moving around and trying other areas of the bank to fin the area that is right for you.
The Culture
There could well be but I was on a placement in an office by myself without other interns so I didn't have much of a chance to partake in any social activities with others. I think maybe it is a bit short sighted of Lloyds to place interns in areas where they don't have much scope for networking with other interns.
Don't know, I was on a placement in an office by myself without other interns so I didn't have much of a chance to partake in any social activities with others. I think Leicester isn't very expensive to go out in but I don't know from any personal experience.
Was the only intern in my office so didn't do any nightlife. I also think I would have enjoyed my placement more had there been other interns to socialise with.
I was involved in some charity work with people from the office one day but other than that nothing else went on. I think there may have been more things going on if I was in a larger office with more people doing activities to get involved with.
