    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I worked in Business Support, I immensely enjoyed working as part of a team of highly talented individuals to help companies that were considered at a higher risk of defaulting on their loan; visible results, client interaction and fast learning all contributed to making a highly enjoyable experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • After the initial few weeks of getting up to speed, I felt that I could contribute to the group and assisted numerous members of my team with a variety of relevant and important tasks. 10 weeks is only a short time to make an impact, but I'm happy with the level of interaction had with my colleagues.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Initially a lot of support was required and given to get me started, after which I was given a fair degree of responsibility and was expected to perform my role without constant assistance; all colleagues were very friendly and willing to help should I get stuck, and could resolve any issues swiftly.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Workload varied depending on ad hoc tasks, but grew steadily as I was able to help out more. Easily enough to keep me busy 9-5, with a few longer days thrown in. If workload was ever too much could always ask team members to prioritize the tasks they had given me, time management is very important.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fairly high degree of responsibility after getting started. The team I worked in is quite specialized and full of highly talented and long serving individuals who have a high level of trust and expertise and so work flexibly to achieve their deliverables. I was treated in a similiar manner, allowed flexibility to achieve my responsibilities.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I feel I most developed are financial analytics, time management, being confident and proactive. I feel these are skills both gained and used in the real world; the use of my degree (maths) in performing my role has been somewhat limited, and vice versa the skills I have learned will help me in future but less so during my last year of study.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was highly professional but also slightly informal. It was quite clear to me that many people in the office enjoyed and took pride in their job and it resulted in a friendly and approachable environment. Working hours were flexible and people always willing to help.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was well organised as a whole, Lloyds has a vast array of systems all of which require separate profile permissions through forms so slow to start, but always kept busy with an array of tasks, a very good infrastructure for an intern such as myself to learn from.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lloyds arranged and paid for London accomodation during my 10 week internship which was an immense help, and on top of the obvious opportunities to develop my skill set during the jobs normal responsibilities there were numerous webinars about personal branding and banking basics, and a few training experiences to develop as a person. Also internship follows through to the grad scheme, which is very appealing after the positive experience.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects ie. grad scheme are highly appealing due to the positive reputation that Lloyds now has after I have enjoyed my internship here. Along with a sign on bonus and plenty of variety within roles (4 x 6 month placements), I would like to begin my career here.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lloyds kindly arranged and paid for London accomodation for interns and we were clubbed together allowing us to socialize outside of work hours much more easily. Furthermore, on the grad scheme we are all in the same boat and so encourages a strong social scene.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lloyds paid for accomodation, which greatly helped with costing, however living in London still means that food costs and night out are on the expensive side.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Its London. .

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
