The Role
I was very warmly welcomed by the Lloyds team during my internship, especially my line manager. I was given a good deal of work to do which meant that I learnt a lot and got invovled all the time. The projects I was working on were particularly interesting and innovative.
I was very impressed by the level of interest in the interns. I was made to feel like a very important and valued member of the team - this has not been my previous experience of being an intern. There were plenty of social events which I was always invited to and participated n.
Excellent support and guidance from my line manager. He gave me enough work to get on with and trusted me once he had given the instructions. Colleagues were willing to help and give support even when they were not in my team. I was regularly offered help and guidance.
Very busy - some days I was away with work and that invovled getting up at 5 and finishing at 7. I didn't mind this at all and I was thrilled to be given lots of work as supposed to being left with nothing and bored. I had quieter periods when things had been finished but I just used this time to do my own personal project.
I was given the right amoutn of responsibility so that I felt I had an input but not so that I was just left on my own with everything. My manager checked what I did at points but wasn't over my shoulder the whole time checking up on me. He trusted me with my work and I asked him when I needed help.
I have graduated now so will be going into the world of work straight away. The placement with Lloyds has been invaluable and I would really recommend it to anyone who wants some good financial experience. It has given me key skills to take away with me into my next job.
The Company
The atmosphere was perfect: relaxed and not too intense but still a good working environment in which to concentrate and get your head down. It took me a while to get use to the open plan nature of the office and the noise which comes with that but it means it's dynamic and never too quiet.
I was very impressed with HR's organisation throughout the placement. I was communicated with regularly before the internship and then throughout as well. The line managers had a structured layout for us so that we didn't get bored and so that we had a wide range of tasks throughout the 10 weeks.
My manager invested a lot of time in me over the 10 weeks and I was involved in a lot of different areas over the 10 weeks. I shadowed a lot of different people so that i could develop an overall image of how the business fitted together. They also paid for my rent so they invested a lot in me!

I'm not sure yet as I haven't had my final review but there seem to be plenty of graduate opportunities. They seem keen to refer any appropriate interns so I hope that I will be offered something. There are different streams that you can apply to depending on your interests during the internship.
The Culture
Great social scene: lots of after work activities which the interns were welcome to. I also helped organise a Sports day which got the whole of my team involved. We did it on Hyde Park and it was hilarious. There seems to be a good work/play balance in the office as a whole.
London is obviously very expensive but Lloyds paid for my rent so the 10 weeks was very affordable. Going out to eat or drink is still very expensive but we were paid well so I could do it without feeling too guilty! I would not have been able to afford london if Lloyds hadn't paid my rent.
I didn't go out that much but it seems pretty good. There seems to be a good range of clubs/bars around our work area. Kings Cross is a bit dodgy at night but it's not far from Shoreditch and Camden which are lively at night. Clapham is also not far away which is good for clubbing at the moment.
