The Role
I enjoyed working at LBG a lot, my work colleagues were very supportive of me and the work load was adequate, sometimes challenging but I really liked working on the various projects and pieces that I was given.
A lot of the work that I was given usually began as the very first draft of an important and significant piece that contributed to the team. I felt that they put a lot of trust into me and also gave a lot of support if I need help getting any projects completed.
My line manager and many other colleagues were very supportive and helpful during my placement. They would alwyas take time out to explain things or clarify any problem that I had over my work, even while they were busy with their own!
The level of work I was given varied throughout the internship. It started to get much more busier towards the end of my placement as I was given my own piece to manage and work on. I would ususally finish around 5pm/6pm on a normal work day starting at 9am.
Quite a lot! I felt that my work contributed a significant part to the team and the Group overall. Often, it would be me that would compile the very first parts of a piece of work and then gaining further feedback to improve it.
Throughout the placement, I felt that I've developed my communication and networking skills strongest, due to constantly speaking to other people across my team. I've also gained more technical skills in Excel from working with spreadsheets. The content and skills gained in the work I've done so far could relate to my degree in Economics quite well, and would be applicable to further opportunities where I'll be working with financial information.
The Company
Very relaxed and casual (but no dress down Fridays unfortunatly). Everyone across the team maintained a good working relationship with each other, but there was still a lot of humour thrown across the office!
Very organised across the Group seeing as we had over 400 interns across the 10 weeks! My line manager had set out exactly what I would be working on across the 10 weeks, and also defined the targets that I would achieve by the end of the placement.
The Group offers online training courses to all colleagues as long as you take the initiative to start them. My line manager and other colleagues were also very supportive of my personal development in looking for other divisions/teams to shadow and organised plenty of opportunities to see the rest of the bank.

Fairly appealing, with a graduate starting salary at £28,000 plus further relocation and London allowance. Work load overall is much less intensive than other investment banks, and very flexible overall. The grad scheme gives you a lot of opportunity to develop (i.e. Chartered Banker qualification), but th
The Culture
I lived at home, in London, so I did not get the chance to see many interns over the 10 weeks (as compared to those that were given accommodation throughtout). Everyone Ive met so far on the internship are very friendly however, and I've made some life-long friends at LBG. There was also a charity challenge with other interns.
London, so very expensive. However I lived at home so there were no extra costs. London clubs have high entry fees and drinks prices do seem a bit unreasonable at certain clubs (Egg).
London nightlife is very good, but also very expensive
There was a Charity challenge for interns and graduates, so there were a lot of social events and activities for us to participate in. I would meet up with other members in my charity team quite often to organise fundraising events.
