The Role
I really enjoyed my internship in the summer. The area that I am working with is fascinating and there are just so many more concepts that I need to learn. One of the highlights in my job is about colleagues. I have the fortunate to spend my internship with a group of friendly and supportive colleagues, that just makes my internship on top of the world by just working with them.
Whenver I finished a piece of work, my colleague will have a check and comment. I feel really satisfied when my work got appreciated by them and they would start giving out more tasks for me as soon as I finished mine.
I often ask my colleagues for more work to do, they will give it to me if I asked for it.
I am constantly busy on a daily basis, it is because I am finding myself work to do if I am free.
Due to some IT technical issues with softwares and restricted permissions, I would say that I haven't been given full responsibility during my placement. For example, I could not send emails on behalf of my team inbox so some work I have to send to my colleague and let them send it to private bank managers instead.
The training I received along with the skills I developed definitely help me in my degree studies and beyond to a great extent. The interpersonal skills, teamwork skills and communication skills help shaping my characters and has made me a stronger applicant for future companies.
The Company
Very friendly and supportive. Everyone is so patient and willing to help you at any time. I managed to become friends with them, hanging out with them after work. It is the best part of my internship.
I have to say that I am a little bit disppointed about the intership set up. This is due to 2 issues. The first one is IT, I haven't been granted access to necessary tools which should have been done before i started my internship, so it wasted a long time just waiting for the granted access, and still I am waiting for another permission request. The second one is about my placement review. Maybe it only happens to me that I haven't managed to conduct any placement reviews with my line manager at this point so far, I understand that he went off sick and then went on holiday for 2 weeks but I just wished someone could take over the role temporarily and help me go through these official work and then hand it back when my manager returns. It is not being quite organised to this extent, as I was told by other interns that they most of them have started final placement review with their managers.
I think our company has invested a lot in our training and development and I really appreciate that.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I think there are potential increasing employment opportunities within our organisation as they are focusing on improving that.
The Culture
Yes, we have social events among fellow placement students.
Since I was working in London, so it is reasonble that the cost of living is quite high but my company paid for my accomodation so it really helps me take a lot of pressure off.
It is very diversified.
I would say medium. I go out with either my colleagues at work or from other intern' group invite.
