The Role
Overall I have found this year not only to be very enjoyable, but extremely beneficial and am certain it shall positively influence my engineering career.
I was treated as one of the team and got on well with all managers, hourly paid, other placement students and graduates.
I wasn't given huge levels of support, however this encouraged me to take responsibility for my own performance and I was always able to ask if I feel I needed assistance.
Because of the nature of the department, the work load was not consistent. As my placement progressed I learnt to better adapt and manage my time around this.
I held a high level of responsibility with the work which was given to me and was part of many active projects.
The skills I have learnt during my time at Jaguar Land Rover will be invaluable to me next year as I tackle my university projects.
The Company
Everyone was friendly and happy to talk with you.
Getting the placement was fairly well organised including both the assessment centre and online application process. However it could have benefited with more support after the placement had begun.
There was a wide range of training available of which attendance was actively encouraged with nothing being excluded.
Financial Bonus
There is a graduate scheme offered which is a great opportunity to begin an engineering career when coming out of university.
The Culture
Reasonable, but it was up to the placement students themselves to organise anything.
Leamington Spa is nicer and situated midway between the two product development sites. You can choose to live in Coventry more cheaply.
Lots of students about and a range of clubs/pubs. Can become very busy even early on a night.
Reasonable but you have to be willing to search!
