The Role
I've really enjoyed my internship as I feel that within the small space of time that I was here, there was a whole range of different knowledge and skills that I was able to pick up that will be invaluable for me in the future.
The team was extremely friendly and supportive from the minute I entered the office. Everyone was attentive and so very welcoming that I almost forgot I was a newbie and not someone who had worked with them forever.
Every step of the way and with every task that I was given, I was guided and helped. I was constantly reminded that there will be people on hand whether I have any queries and that I should not hesitate to ask whenever I'm unsure.
Some days, my schedule was wonderfully full and I felt like I was being stretched and challenged and felt like a 'grown up'. But of course, I wasn't expecting to be swept off my feet for the full 10 weeks, every single day and there were a couple of days that were quiet. However, I liked that because it gave me an insight into how unpredictable and diverse the work place can be, especially my stream.
I felt like I was given a very good balance of responsibility and I felt like I was making a positive impact to my team and wasn't doing things for the sake of it. I was relied upon and felt like the small things I helped out with were making a difference.
The stream I was lucky enough to be placed into works in parallel with my degree studies and I instantly realised there was an overlap between them in terms of the life cycle and I was really pleased to find that. It has helped me sharpen up my organisational and communication skills and has enabled me to get a wider understanding of the Group,
The Company
It was a mixture of fun and seriousness. At times throughout the day, everyone was knuckled down doing their work but there will always be moments where we're all having a laugh and joking around. It makes the atmosphere a lot more light hearted and the day more enjoyable.
It was very well organised. With a wonderful induction event at the beginning with all the interns attending and then calls and presentations which took place at the beginning, the middle and the end of the internship.
There weren't many personal training and development included in the section I applied to, However, LBG did provide Banking master classes and presentations.
National Travel
Working from home
Travel loan
It is very appealing, especially in the division in which I'm working in. However, I'm not certain that I would want to get a job with the LBG just yet without exploring more of my options in greater detail. There are still other things I want to try out but LBG is a very good starting point in a career.
The Culture
Yes, there was. There were quite a few socials held for the team as well as amongst the other interns who were with LBG.
I lived at home within the area of work but it isn't exactly cheap not too expensive to live and socialise but affordable if you try hard.
Nightlife in London is great either way so it was amazing!
Yes, there was a 'Day to Make A Difference' and also charity events held outside of work that really encouraged the charitable experience and mood for the whole team. We could also work together as a team to make a difference to the local community.
