The Role
Thourougly enjoyed internship. Was given a good mix of work, both value adding and administration type jobs. Felt I was given the right amount of work, never too little or too much.
Felt valued by the majority of my colleagues, especially my line manager and his sub-team. There were also 2 graduates working on my team at the same time as I was interning, so I didn't feel I was valued as much as I could have been at times.
I was given continuous support by my line manager. He was always available to talk to if I had any questions about my assigned work. We also had regular one-to-one catch ups and review meetings throughout my 10 week placement.
I was relativly busy on a daily basis. Sometimes I was given a lot of work in one go, but the deadlines were always reasonable enough for me to meet them without having to stay too late at work. The only time I felt that I wasn't busy enough was when my line manager was on holiday and didn't set me any work before leaving.
I was given significnat responsibility during my internship. At times I felt as though I potentially had too much responsibility, as my understanding of the clients and business activities was not strong enough, having just finished univeristy, to be able to properly complete the work.
The skills I have developed will continue to be useful beyond my studies. Some of the skills are firm specific, such as knowledge of opertaing systems etc. Other skills such as confidence, and excel skills will continue to be helpful moving forwards.
The Company
General atmosphere was good in the office. Everyone was really nice and chatty and keen to get to know you. At times it was a bit too loud, especially on a Friday when many people were talking rather than working.
The organisation pre-arrival at LBG was awful. The interniship was poorly explained on line, and the interview process was a video-interview, which didn't give any opportunity to find out more about the role you were signing up for. In addition, the information given from HR was very poor. That being said, on arrival at LBG, when down to my team and not HR was very good.
There was some investement from the firm. Some training sessions such as Bloomberg training, and more firm specific training events were set up. Would probably have benefitted more if there had been pre-organised training or information sessions in the first week, prior to arriving on the desk.

Furture employment prospects are very appealing. Problems with the internship such as poor pay and lack of investment in employees is resolved at graduate level. In addition the rotational nature of the graduate programme is also very appealing.
The Culture
There was a good social scene among fellow interns. Especially as LBG provided accomodation in London for the 10 week placement. This meant that there would always be something going on at weekends.
Very expensive, as it was in London. However LBG provided accomodation for the 10 week placement which helped. The pay remained poor unfortunatley, at almost half of the pro rata gaduate starying salary.
Nightlife was fantastic as it was in London. Many places to go out every night of the week. Was very expensive unfortunatley, and Lloyds do not pay as much as other internships do.
There are opportnities to join activities outside of work, however it is less likely to be possible for the duration of an internship.
