The Role
My internship was thoroughly enjoyable because the HR department placed me in a job that was suited to my strengths and interests. They achieved this by reading my application, and including scope to write what my career prospects are. I enjoyed the flexibility of the internship, I felt valued as an employee. For example, I was given ownership of all tasks and did not feel the work asked of me was useless. In addition, I was treated as an adult not an 'intern' and my employer was flexible with sick days and holidays.
My colleagues were open to suggestions, feedback and help. Despite working in the business for only 10 weeks, I felt I could add input and help enhance existing and new projects.
My manager scheduled 1-2-1 meetings with me at least once a week to check my progress. She was always at hand if I needed further help. She was approachable and tentative to my needs. Even if she was not in the office, she would schedule a call with me. Every meeting was worthwhile and I felt she supported me throughout.
I felt incredibly busy, I attended meetings, shadowing, interviews and chairty events. The workload was manageable and wholesum. I never felt unoccupied or bored. If ever I needed help meeting deadlines, my managers were accomodating and helpful in every way.
I was given full responisbility for my tasks, I was able to schedule calls and meetings without the permission of managers, this made me feel valued.
I am studing sustainable development, and was placed in the Responsible Business department on my placement. This of course helped me with my understanding of how the corporate world meets sustainble targets. Literacy skills were improved aswell as communication skills.
The Company
My particular office was relaxed, friendly and fun. Everyone was hardworking but there was the opportunity to chat and eat and even bring in cake whenever you wanted. I would say the pace of the office was slow-avergae which made it relaxing.
Communication between my employer and myself was strong and I always knew what I was supposed to be doing. I would honestly say the company who paid us were the most difficult and unorganised, this maybe because they were external but this is not a bad reflection on Lloyds as an employer. Reed Global were responsible for paying us and they made a few mistakes with tax and timing of pay slips. Overall, organisation was ok.
The company paid for me to visit social enterprises in birmingham, so that I could understand the context of my tasks more. This was not an opportunity to be missed. They also paid for me to visit departments I was interested in shadowing, even if it was outside of my placement location. I felt Lloyds really wanted me to have an interesting experience, and I did.

Very appealing because they value staff and prioritse personal development. Lloyds prioritise diversity and inclusion which is one of the main things I look for in an employer. I would like to be a part of the company in the future as I would feel proud working for a company that treats its staff as highly as its customers.
The Culture
Yes, the company found accomodation for all its interns s it was easy to organise socials. Socials were regular and often raising money for children in need. People were always inviting eachother to networking events and external events.
Normal london prices, lots of my expenses were covered so I felt I had money to go out and enjoy london properly. London is slightly more expensive to go out and eat in however colleagues always knew good cheap places.
Living in kings cross, many clubs were within walking distance. Roxy was a good student club and there were lots of pubs and bars within a 15min walk such as 'the big chill'.
There were lots of opportunities however they were not advertised well. I dont think this is my employers responsibility, it is upto the individual to find these.
