The Role
Really enjoyed my time and would definitely do it all again. Although the hours were long, and the work was intense, it was really interesting and a great insight into a quasi-investment banking division
We were doing exactly the same work as everyone else in the team, given real responsibility - for example sending out daily reports over a thousand people both inside and outside of the bank
We were all allocated buddies who worked with us throughout the 10 weeks and were there for any help we needed. Our development was a real focus for the whole team and everyone was happy to take time out of their work to sit down and go through anything with us
Far busier than other interns in the whole bank. A normal day was about 12 hours but if you had a lot of work to do you might be working 14 or 15 hours and some days you wouldn't have a free 5 minutes until gone midday. In some respects it was annoying not being paid past your standard 10 hours, but it was worth it as it opened up opportunities that were not available for anyone else in the bank.
Given exactly the same responsibility as a full time employee, although of course our work was checked over before it was sent to clients. Didn't get to meet any clients unfortunately due to the nature of the team, but we were directly involved in pitches and confidential deals
Definitely opened my eyes to the finance world, and helped me to decide what I want to do after uni
The Company
Chatty, but also hard working and a general emphasis on helping others do their job well
Good structure, and regular check ups to make sure I was getting a good variety of work
Especially at the beginning , team members used to spend hours talking through things with us and explaining how things worked. Also had a bloomberg terminal

Great place to work, which is hard to find in a quasi-IB role
The Culture
We didn't get off work until late but the pub was visited at least twice a week
London prices.....
Not bad, but steep prices as you would expect in London
Had a team social at the beginning of the programme, great way to get to know people and also an open bar.... Also a charity challenge that some people seemed to care more about than their actual job
