The Role
My internship has been really interesting, I was given three specific projects to work on over the internship which allowed me to take owenership of my work and structure the length of my internship. The office has been a great environment to work in and I've had lots of opportunities to explore different areas of the business.
The work I am doing involved a lot of collaboration with other colleagues, involving checking information etc., so gave me the opportunity to meet colleagues beyong my team. They were all happy to talk to me and were helpful in providing advice and offering further assistance if needed. The work I am doing will remain in use for a year so I've been told on several occasions how valuable the work I'm doing is.
I had weekly one-to-one meetings with ym line manager and could always E-mail heror ask for help/support if I needed to. All other colleagues I have had interactions with have been happy to provide help and support in the work I have been doign and have offered further support hsould I need it.
As I have been in charge of my own projects I have led how busy each day has been. I have never been left with nothing to do as I can keep progressing with the work I've been set. Some days have been sslightly more busy than others. Meetings with colleagues have also helped ensure I have things to do.
I have been given ownership of the work I am doing. Whislt I check in with varying people for feedback and approval, it's been left to me to make decisions on changes that needed to be made to my work, to arrange my own meetings with different colleagues, to ensure it meets branding guidelines etc.
I made use of my research skills throughout my internship; ensuring I did some background research before each meeting I attended. Being selective in the information I use has also been beneficial. I have had more of an opportunity to collaborate with others than I have in my degree itself which has been a useful skill to develop.
The Company
Everyone in the office has been really welcoming and friendly. There is a professional atmosphere, with people getting on with their work, but they are approachable and willing to help if you need them. The other interns have also made the experience enjoyable.
My line manager gave me my projects on the first day and then allowed me time to plan my ten weeks, giving me feedback on my plan. Weekly one-to-ones were in place to give support and to make sure everything was going ok and whether I needed further support. The internship team maintained regular contact to ensure things were going ok.
Objectives were set in my first week in relation to the business but also in relation to personal development. Through this I was able to explore different areas of the organisation to see if there were any other areas that interested me and to get a wider insight into LBG as a whole. LBG invested time and ssupport into allowing me to explore what interested me within the organisation.

The possibility of the grad scheme is very appealing. They are clear with the process of application to the grad scheme through the intership so you know how it works. The differing streams within the grad scheme are appealign as they fit with different interests.
The Culture
I worked with and lived in the same accomodation as many interns. We went out for dinner, drinks, tourist trips, parties, nights out, theatre trips etc. At work we'd go out for lunch/eat lunch together everyday and commute to and from work as a group. Colleagues invited us on the monthly team social events.
Accomodation was provided so there were no rent costs. Commuting using the underground cost about £5 a day, less for using the bus, the office is within walking distance so could have been even cheaper. Food cost varies depending on whether you cook for yourself or get takeaways/eat at restaurants. It is central London prices for food/entertainment/transport, but you're not paying rent.
Central London, so plenty of clubs, pubs, bars, restaurants, theatres, pop up shops. Living with other interns meant there were plenty of people to go out with and many options of where to actually go.
The Charity Challenge is a competition run for interns to raise as much money for the Charity of the Year as possible (this year BBC Children in Need). This was an activity within work but didn't count as ouractual job. I got to know my team really well and we raised a lot of money for a great cause. We were also invited to colleague events outside of work, like drinks etc.
