    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The scheme was very enjoyable with an appropriate level of responsibilty. There was great opportunity to spend time in various wider teams across the bank, which you may find interesting or want to gain experience in. Work was kept interesting throughout the placement, and there is always oppurtunity to get involved in new areas.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Within all sectors I was involved with the teams and colleagues were very accomodating and friendly. You are always treated as an equal member of the team and your opinions are taken on board and encouraged in meetings and discussions.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manger was very supportive throughout the placement, assisting not only with work within the team I was placed, but also giving invaluable career advise. Ambition is encouraged and the management staff provided me with all the relevant inforamtion I needed on how to progress on to a graduate scheme and which sectors are useful to gain experience in.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Initial targets set at the start of the scheme provide enough work to fill the placement. However there is always oppurtunity to take on new work to stretch yourself and work within wider teams. Proactivity is encouraged in regards to this, and taking on work for the wider teams can be beneficial for both parties.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By showing interest and abillity at the start of the placement you can build the trust of the management staff to take on more responsibility through the term. The final project I was tasked with over the internship involved a relatively high level of responsibility, but oversight and guidance was provided by my line manager wherever it was needed.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Studying Physics at University means the training I received doesn't transfer directly to my degree. However the flexibility to spend time in other teams within the bank has given me great insight into which departments I may look to work with in the future, and will undoubtely assist me in my career.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is friendly with great colleague engagement and work/life balance.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were numerous one to one meetings with various colleagues who give up their time to talk through various departments and queries. I was able to attend a number of all-day externally led CPD courses to develop wider sector knowledge. The graduate scheme referral is an integral part of the placement and the group expect the majority of interns to progress into a graduate role.

  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very strong, the turnover from the internship scheme to the graduate scheme is very high.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Most interns were placed within the same residence during the placement, much like student halls. This gave great oppurtunity to meet other interns and develop your network within the bank, as well as giving a great social environment outside of working hours.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • All accomodation fees were covered by Lloyds, who provided a halls of residence for all those who lived too far from the offices to commute. The fees within London are naturally high, but the internship pay is adjusted to meet the costs of living in London.

    3/5
