The Role
The work was very varied and stimulating, and most of it was in-line with my degree. Some of the projects were not, but I got a chance to polish other transferable skills.
Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Great banter around my department as well!
Support was always available.
It alternated between the too. Initially, it was slow to start off with, but once you get in the stride, it gets a lot better.
I was given quite a few important projects.
Fantastic Learning opportunities!
The Company
Depends on the department and workload, but most people were good at cracking jokes.
Pretty well organised, though the initial weeks could have been made better.
Considering I was just here for a year, I would say quite a lot.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Depends on the circumstances really. Though most of the graduates have been placement students in the past.
The Culture
Great social scene! Afternoon teas, communal and pub lunches, going out, go-karting, house parties...
Cost of living was not too bad, considering it was near London. Socialising was dependent on the place you visit really; it had to be London so not cheap!
St Albans was not bad, neither was the Forum at UH!
Quite a few activities going round with different people, mostly sports though!
