The Role
really enjoyed the varying projects and roles, that actually do make a substantial difference to your company/department. Keeps you interesting with something to do throughout the placement. Chance to come back on they're graduate scheme!
from the very start I was given projects that envolved every department, so you get to everyone pretty well
Manager was around 90% of the time. Could easily drop in for guidance/questions
usually well balance. odd occasion too busy or not enough, but only a couple times in the year. people usually on hand to help with heavy workloads, manager spots quickly if you're not busy (advice asking for work, finding your own projects, shows initiative)
Massive amounts of responsability. lead a 6 month project to relocate the department and design the new layouts/offices and production area. In charge of a team of 10+ on site staff and same again in contractors
the training is invaluable. Some I wish did before going to University would have made my first two years a lot easier!!
The Company
generally quite enjoyable, good laugh. Very open plan so can see what everyones doing and get involved.
main Project debrief at start of year with regular reviews. structured training on and off site throughout the year. Have the ability to recomend training for yourself if can seen to be benificial to your role.........used this a lot
glad to send you to other company site around country, and world (USA, China, Romania, Brazil) for some of the interns for training and larger projects

opportunity to work with graduates to get a feel for the program. I have been offered a place back after graduation
The Culture
with around 12-15 other interns, we met up throughout the year for socials. with colleagues most birthdays and Christmas events were celebrated in style
reasonably cheap, around £300 with bills included. Lived ex students that had moved to the area for work that wernt with the company. House share well recomended.
Varied, as long as there was a group of you.........great laugh. not so if there just 1-3 of you
Lots of local sports clubs, enterntainment clubs around that were very welcoming.
