The Role
I really enjoyed my time with Enterprise.
From day one I was made to feel valued by everybody within the company. The training week I was given at the start of my internship was great and shows how much they care about their employees. Everybody starts in the same position that I did so everyone knows exactly how you are feeling. Although nervous at first I was put at ease soon after starting,
My branch manager was fantastic and really approachable. I was given loads of support and whenever I had a question, my manager was always willing to answer it and help me - no matter how busy we were!
Within the first month when I was grounded and not able to drive the vehicles, it is about getting to know the office and the practices that go on. Although this can feel a bit dull at times, it is really beneficial and when this time is up and I began driving I noticed how much I had learnt. Once I was able to drive after 3 weeks in my branch, I found that the days went so quickly! I was really busy all day everyday with a good mix between time in the office and driving out on the road.
The responsibility levels are almost the same as any other employee in the branch (except the manager). From day one I was responsible for checking around the cars, ensuring underwriting criteria is met and I was in charge in terms of how I dealt with my customer. This again can be daunting as we are a car rental company and our vehicles are expensive, therefore it is a big responsibility. However, I felt I had great training to set me up for this and if ever I was unsure I just asked!
The skills I have learnt will help me so much with my future career - I learnt management skills including how to manage income, business growth and even had an insight into the accounts. I also felt that my confidence has grown, perhaps due to the level of responsibility given from the start. Also, the training opportunities include presentations etc which helped me to progress with my confidence levels.
The Company
Really friendly and fun. Everybody gets on so well and really works as a team - it is clear enterprise employ the right kind of people. Aswell as having a laugh, all employees were always willing to help me and encouraged me to ask questions all the time!
Really well - lots of training opportunities scheduled throughout and reviews etc all organized well. Perhaps more time with senior management levels could be delegated.
The first week of my internship was a weeks worth of training at Heathrow - they put me up in a hotel for 3 nights and we were given meals throughout. The training was great and made to feel fun which is important when the first week can be a bit full on. For works events when I had to drive an hour away I was always given a company car too which was good.
Company Parties/Events
The scope for progression is great within Enterprise - you can be promoted even within your 12 week internship! This appeals to me as within a few years I could be managing a branch myself. I hope to maybe return after university.
The Culture
Yes everybody gets on so well and even meets outside of their own time - eg social events after meetings etc.
I worked within my home time so I lived with my family and usually social events were outside this area.
Did not experience this as I worked in a tiny town!
Yes there are always emails flying about with extra activities to get involved in.
