The Role
I really enjoyed my time at UBS. I learned a great deal and I would definitely recommend it to anyone from any degree background who is looking for an internship in this area.
I was treated as an equal; I definitely felt respected and valued by my colleagues. I was treated as if I were a new permanent employee, and people were always willing to give me their time to explain new things to me.
I had weekly meetings with my line manager and I could always pop into his office if I needed anything. I also had a mentor whom I met with every other week and who gave me great advice and support.
It depended on the day. Sometimes I would have lots to do and time would fly by. Other times, I would be waiting on requests or permissions, so I wouldn't have much to do.
I was given my own project to work on. It was my responsibility to set deadlines, contact people for information and make sure the project was completed by the end of the internship.
The skills I learned will be very helpful and I'll definitely use them in the future. I've also learned a lot about working in the real world, which I wouldn't know if I hadn't done an internship of this sort.
The Company
It was a little quiet at times as people were on holiday at different times, but it was relaxed and friendly. You could always get up and talk to someone if you needed to.
Campus Recruitment put on lots of events and talks for us throughout the summer. Those were invaluable and one of the highlights of the internship. My project was well organised too, and was waiting for me to start on it from day one.
The first week of the internship was an induction week where we were given business-area specific training, Microsoft Excel training and workshops on Personal and Professional Development. I feel we were heavily invested in, in terms of training and well-equiped for the internship.

It was always stressed that the company is in the midst of chnage and that there are always new opportunities coming up. Everyone on the internship is considered for the Graduate Programme, so I'd say future employment prospects are very good.
The Culture
There were three socials organised by Campus Recruitment, and I usually met with the other interns for drinks or lunch a few times a week. I think our year group gelled well and we spent a lot of time with each other away from the desk.
Expensive - it's the City of London, but we were given a salary to match. There are some amazing places to eat and lots of bars and pubs around, but they were usually pricey.
I didn't go out much, but again, it's the City/Central London. There are dozens, if not hundreds of bars, clubs, restaurnats and pubs you can go to after work. They're just quite pricey.
There were several events put on by Campus Recruuitment such as socials, workshops and talks. There was also the option to volunteer with Community Affairs, and there was a treasure hunt in my area (Group Technology).
