The Role
I really liked the internship program, I found it a fantastic experience both from a working and from a human point of view. Indeed, I spent nine great weeks with very knowledgeable and very friendly people that guided and supported me through my learning process and helped me develop a significant skill-base for my career
I feel to be strongly valued by all my colleagues both at a senior and at a junior level. Indeed, I received important responsibilities throughout my internship that helped me develop a solid reciprocal trust with my colleagues both during my first and during my second rotation
People were very supportive and very flexible depending on the difficulty of the task given. They were always ready to give deeper explanations and they were always giving me a proper background of the task in order to have a better and more complete angle of my tasks
I have been very busy during the first half of my internship program, the second half has been relatively less busy compared to the first one, both because of the change in the team and because of the Summer period. However, I am really happy about the amount of work I was given, as it has allowed me to enhance my knowledge, skills and experience
I absolutely liked the exposure and the responsibility that was given me. Indeed, I had the chance to directly work with a couple of Managing Directors as well as with Directors. The responsibilities and the level of my tasks has grown during my stay here at Barclays, enlightening the willingness of team members of giving growing responsibility allowing for a faster personal growth also at intern level
I believe that the skills that I learnt will not be very beneficial for my studies as I have already completed almost all the courses relative to the Corporate Finance world, however, I have learnt so many interdisciplinary skills and knowledge that I am extremely confident will be fundamental both in my future studies and, especially, in my future career
The Company
The atmosphere was for sure one of the strongest strengths of my team. Indeed, everybody was extremely positive and supportive even during tough periods with lot of staffing. My floor was very calm and people very focused but always available to talk and invest time in new joiners.
The internship setup was very well organized. More specifically, desks were very large and very comfortable for working long hours. There was all the material needed for working and all the support to solve any potential issue. Maybe the furniture was a bit dated and needed to be modernized a bit, but it's a minor point
The training was quite short, indeed it lasted only three days. However, additional training was provided during my first rotation, which focused on specific issues and technicalities relative to the specific team a joint. Furthermore, people were very supportive and ready to provide further explanations about any topics. Therefore, my overall valuation is positive, but the proper training was too short.

Future perspectives are extremely positive. I think the company is willing to invest in juniors and is investing in young people for its future. I also believe that the company is making great efforts to retain talents, by providing additional benefits and by developing a great positive culture that makes life in banking more sustainable in the long term
The Culture
Social scene was very positive among the interns, people were always ready to help each other
The cost was quite high but the salary is proportional and enough to substain the cost of living
There are a few pubs around in Canary Warf and especially during the weekends, people from all the banks meet in these places to have a drink and spend time with colleagues in a more informal setting. There is no club, cinema or theater, but overall it's an enjoyable area to spend the time in
Not that much a part from the Charity event which was really enjoyable
