The Role
My internship has given me an invaluable insight into a career in Commercial Banking, whilst the members in my team have made me feel extremely welcome and have given me some great advice for the future.
The members in my team have been very accommodating in allowing me to shadow them on client meetings and have given me praise for the work I have completed.
My manager and I had regular catch-up calls to assess the progress I was making and any questions/queries that I had were answered swiftly.
There wasn't a single moment where I had been left with nothing to do.
I was trusted to accompany the relationship managers on several client meetings, all of which required a high level of professionalism from me in order to maintain strong relationships with the customers.
Throughout my internship, I have had the opportunity to shadow several high-level employees of the bank. Each of them had a different approach to leadership and I was able to learn a lot about managing a team and conducting meetings with both staff and customers, skills which I will certainly utilise in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere was very warm and fun, with no sacrifice on professionalism and productivity. Jokes were often exchanged and current affairs discussed, in addition to work-based questions and queries.
Lloyds Banking Group have been incredibly efficient from the get-go with regards to the internship process. I was given my first choice of internship stream and throughout my time at the bank I have received regular emails from the intership team, checking on my progress, providing valuable information and offering support.
Several webinars were run to get everyone up-to-speed with banking jargon and the basics of banking. In addition to the internship, I have recieved a vast range of support and development through the Lloyds Scholarship Program.
Flexi Time
Working from home
Referral onto the Graduate Scheme is well within my grasp, and I have found the success rate for referrals for my fellow interns to be very high, as they have been in previous years.
The Culture
I knew from the beginning that I would be the only intern in my office and that there would be a large age gap between my colleagues and I; I was given other location options but chose this placement due to the experience I would recieve, despite a possible lack of social activities.
I commuted from a different city so this question isn't really applicable to me.
I commuted from a different city so did not experience the nightlife
I was involved in a Give & Gain day with another team based in my office-we went to a children's charity and did some gardening for them. I was also aware of several other fundraising opportunities.
